THIS IS GREECE

This is Greece captures the flavor and tradition of the birthplace of Western civilization. There’s Athens, with its spectacular views of the Acropolis, the Parthenon, temples, churches, theaters, marketplaces, architecture and more. We see Olympia, home of the gods; Delphi, famous for its legendary oracle; and the beautiful isles. There’s also modern-day Greece, where life is lived on street corners, in squares, and at tables amid reminders of the past. A vacation in Paris inspired Miroslav Sasek to create children's travel guides to big cities in the world. The guides are large, colorful books done in M's fantastic watercolor style.
The books are an awesome historical record of the attitudes and perceptions of the 60s. They were recently republished with footnotes of facts and figures that have changed since they were first printed.
Sasek's This Is series is a delight for kids, but also tickles the memories and delights the souls of those who read them growing up.
